CAD & FEA

FEA

I was tasked with modeling and testing a bath towel bar for a materials course in SolidWorks and writing a report with results.

We modeled half the bar based on a similar one by HONGYUN, created the FEA study, and presented stress and displacement plots along a probe on each bar. The results were presented in a report.

CAD

I'm proficient in SolidWorks, Fusion360, and Onshape.

Part of my job at Medical Device Development was to CAD test fixtures to hold a cadaver femur and tibia. The design allowed for the knee to be flexed at different angles, so the tibia (bottom) bone fixture rotated with 3 degree of freedom to simulate the ankle.

The design included a piston to raise and lower a crosshead and a 3-df rotation point below the tibia to simulate the ankle and allow for the knee to bend easily. Because the project involved communicating with a team of surgeons from Japan, Onshape's sharing features were particularly important.

I unfortunately cannot include more images of the CAD design but would be happy to talk about it more!
